American: Shading was good this night. Flows are at 3500+ I fished with father/son combo Steve and Evan from the Bay area. We boated 14 out of 25 hooked. The bite really took off around 7:45. Hope to catch ya on the American, Rod.

Shad fishing is good. Flows on the river are good. The numbers have been a little inconsistent, some nites 10-12 fish, other nites 25-30 fish. Its still early, fishing will get better as the season progresses and we will fish there the 4th of July. Hope to catch ya on the American, Rod.

American: SHAD SEASON IS UNDER WAY. Fished the A last nite with Russ. In the 2.5 hours we were on the water we hooked 20+ fish. A lot of them were big females. There is 4 times as much water at the start of this season than last with the flows at 4500. We will fish thru the 4th of July.
There are also a bunch of Blueback Steelhead in the system also. Its early, but its time to go. See ya on the A, Rod.

American River: Steelhead season is open now on the length of the American. The opener was slow for most. There are a handful of fresh fish in the system, you have to put in your time to get them, but it can be done. I will be concentrating to the stretch from Sailors Bar to Rossmore Bar. Afternoon/evening trips are available, they run from 3:00 to dark. Price is $150.00 for the boat.
